Dublin and Armagh are both set to challenge the proposed €10,000 fines handed down to them by the GAA’s Central Competitions Controls Committee (CCCC) following incidents in a challenge match earlier this month.
One incident left Dublin player Davey Byrne hospitalised with a broken nose while a subsequent interview with Dublin manager Jim Gavin acknowledged the Byrne incident and the injuries he sustained.
Gavin also outlined that Byrne and the Armagh player believed to be involved had a frank exchange post-match where the issue was resolved.
That interview prompted CCCC to re-open their investigation and with neither county keen on revealing the identity of the Armagh player involved, the CCCC imposed the fines.
It is believed that these are among the heaviest any county has been hit with for indiscipline in recent times.
