It will go down to the final weekend for Armagh in their bid to return to GAA’s top table next season following defeat to promotion-chasing Roscommon on Saturday.
Played out in front of virtually no supporters – although credit must be given to the initiative which saw 3,000 school children’s drawings placed on empty seats – Armagh succumbed to a more potent Rossies frontline.
Two second half goals in as many minutes was were the damage was inflicted on Kieran Mcgeeney’s men who duly missed the passionate – and often compact – home support.
While Roscommon are all but promoted thanks to their win, Armagh must get a positive result away to Clare next weekend to secure top flight football.
Clare, meanwhile, may need victory themselves to avoid relegation with Laois – just below them – travelling to already Division 3-bound Fermanagh.
