It was heartbreak for Armagh Ladies as the fell to Cork in the All-Ireland quarter-final on Saturday.
A large crowd attended the Athletic Grounds in anticipation of a titanic tussle and they weren’t disappointed.
Armagh were dealt a raw hand before a ball was even thrown-in when multi All-Star forward Aimee Mackin was forced to withdraw through injury.
Sister Blaithin picked up the mantle on the day, chipping in with 1-1; a second half goal attempt late on was thwarted, which could have had put an altogether different complexion on the result.
Despite being all-square at the break and rattling two goals past the Cork ‘keeper, it was the influence of Ciara O’Sullivan and the free-taking of Katie Quirke and Doireann O’Sullivan that proved the difference for the Rebel County.
Final score: Cork 0-14 – 2-06 Armagh
