Tyrone GAA have lodged an objection to the result which saw them lose to Armagh in the U20 Ulster Championship semi-final last Friday night.
Armagh came out victorious on a scoreline of 2-22 to 0-24 points at the Athletic Grounds – but not after a mass brawl erupted midway through extra time.
The Irish News are reporting that the Red Hand county are objecting to the result based on a GAA ruling that “a team reduced to 14 players because of a sending off during the playing of the first phase of Extra Time must start Phase II with only 14 players etc”.
Both sides were reduced to 13 men in the first phase of extra time but had their full compliment restored for the second period, which forms the basis of Tyrone’s objection.
Armagh were trailing at the time of the brawl.
The objection will be heard by the Ulster Council on Thursday evening but will not involve representatives from Armagh, Tyrone or the other finalists, Derry.
“It’ll be the end of the week before the CCC will get anything done,” said Ulster PRO Michael Geoghegan.
“The competing counties won’t be involved in the disciplinary process, nor will Derry because they are in the final. It’ll be the other six so it’s all fair and above board.
“The referee’s report will be submitted and they’ll work from there and their decisions will go out to the PROs of the two counties involved.”
The final is due to take place on June 24, ahead of the Donegal and Fermanagh senior final in Clones.
