The 2018 oval racing season bursts into life at Tullyroan Oval on Easter Saturday evening (March 31st) with a five formula feast of championship race action.
Topping the bill is the Irish Open Championship for Stock Rods, which will see all the major championship winners from 2017 on track to contest the title.
World Champion Marc Morrell from Ahoghill heads the entry list, but will be challenged hard by top Scottish stars Chris Lattka, Jonathan Lattka and Siobhan Martin.
Falkirk ace Chris is the current European and British Champion and has sampled much success in Ulster in the past, and he will be keen to regain the Irish Open title he last won in 2016.
His brother Jonathan is the current Scottish Champion and took third in the World Final at Aghadowey last year, whilst Siobhan is arguably the UK’s finest lady racer.
Last year she fulfilled her huge potential by finally lifting a major title with a dominant victory in the National Championship at Hednesford in England.
Defending Irish Open Champion Jonny Cardwell from Ballinderry has unveiled a stunning new car for the 2018 and will be keen to hang onto his title, while Ballymena’s Irish Champion Victor McAfee will be keen to use all his experience in the quest for victory.
Former World Champion Stevie McNiece from Enniskillen, talented Kells brothers Derek and Shane McMillan, Cullybackey’s Curtis Greer and returning former champions Micky McFall and Gary Butler are also sure to be challenging for the silverware.
Also in action on Easter Saturday’s programme will be the 2.0 Hot Rods, the Superstox (in the year their World Championship final comes to Tullyroan), ProStocks and Junior Productions.
The first race of the Select Catering sponsored event leaves the grid at 6.30pm.
There is also a full programme of race action featuring the Stock Rods Irish Masters and action from the National Hot Rods, Lightning Rods, Thunder Rods and Ninja Karts at Aghadowey Oval on Easter Monday afternoon (2pm start).
