City of Armagh RFC will shortly receive their fixtures for the 2017-18 season but Coaching Consultant, Willie Faloon has been working feverishly behind the scenes to ensure the Club continues to progress across all its teams and age-groups.
The First XV will commence their season defending the SONI Premiership trophy, which they famously won for the first time last season, with a game to be announced for the last week of August.
As the start of the new rugby season approaches, Willie commented: “I feel we are in a good position on and off the field and our committee members and volunteers are working as hard as ever behind the scenes to make it a successful year.
“On the training field, our senior players from Firsts through to Fourths have completed a four week period of gym work to improve their strength and conditioning.
“Now they are out on the pitch, they are getting to grips with a few new calls and systems for the new season. It has been testing so far with lots of information being thrown at them and everyone getting used to the new coaching team, but as ever, the boys have reacted positively and are training hard.
“With a lot of competition in most positions, it’s going to be tough for the players to nail down a starting spot and keep it, but it’s that environment which will bring us forward and I’m sure it will bring out the best in us all.”
The club’s youth section will be commencing training shortly and new players are welcome to contact the club through Facebook or the club website for further information.
