There has been a double tragedy for two Co Tyrone families following separate road-related deaths.
A man in his 30s was killed yesterday (Sunday) after a Vauxhall Vivaro van was involved in a one-vehicle crash.
He died at the scene of the incident which happened at around 3.10pm at Garvallagh Road in Fintona.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch, especially the driver of a dark-coloured Toyota Hilux car who was in the area on Sunday afternoon. They can be contacted on 101, quoting reference number 1130 02/04/23.
Meanwhile, police have also confirmed that a woman has died following a single-vehicle road traffic collision in the William Street area of Cookstown.
She has been named as 73-year-old Ita Cavanagh from the Pomeroy area.
Mrs Cavanagh had been involved in a collision with a lorry shortly before 2.15pm on Thursday, February 9.
Sergeant Amanda McIvor from the Collision Investigation Unit said: “Emergency services attended and Ms Cavanagh was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment.
“Sadly, while she was in hospital receiving treatment for her injuries, she passed away.”
According to a death notice, Mrs Cavanagh, described as a “beloved wife” and “loving mother”, died peacefully in the Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast surrounded by her family.
Her funeral took place on Friday.
Sergeant McIvor added: “Our investigation is under way and we are appealing to anyone who was travelling in the William Street area around this time and who has dash-cam footage, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, and quote reference number 955 of 09/02/23.”
