The Market Place Theatre, Armagh proudly hosts the opening of ‘Emergence’, the first solo exhibition by Catherine Keogh in the city of her birth.
This body of new work connects to her earlier ‘tree of life series’ which she mused on the connection between the humble tree and personal growth.
The colourful swirl replaces conventional roots a metaphor for her choice to uproot and spend much of her life away from Armagh.
Keogh’s work is about finding new ways of growing despite being cut off from familiar soil.
“Ultimately my art is one of the ways I sustain my ‘personal tree’ because to deny my art is to deny myself sustenance. This exhibition is about our common struggle to emerge and to grow!”
Emergence opens on Friday, November 9 and runs to Saturday, January 5, 2019. Admission is free.
