A Co Armagh school teacher’s penmanship has helped to earn a ‘Best Short Film’ gong at the BAFTA awards in London tonight.
Ronan Blaney wrote ‘Boogaloo and Graham’ and the short has received widespread acclaim – and an Oscar nod too!
Culture Minister Carál Ní Chuilín tonight congratulated the production team behind the film, which beat off four other nominees to claim the accolades in the ‘Best Short Film’ category.
In congratulating everyone involved in the making of the film, the Minister said; “This is another great success for the local film industry and through NI Screen I am delighted that we have been able to help in the creation of this short film production.
” I commend everyone involved in its making and in particular pay tribute to director Michael Lennox, writer Ronan Blaney and producer Brian Falconer.
“This success builds on our proud reputation in the creative industries sector and I hope that this is just the start of a few great weeks for ‘Boogaloo and Graham’, as it hopes to complete a ‘double’ by picking up an Oscar, for which it is also nominated.”
The Academy Awards will take place on February 22.
