Polish born Agata Blanc combines culture, food and photography in TASTE exhibition

Food and culture-loving photographer, Agata Blanc originally from Malbolk, Poland has now been residing in Armagh City for eight years. During this time, she has been kept busy in the running her own business but she has also found the time to further explore her passion for photography.

Agata’s time spent here, in County Armagh, engaging with local people and learning about our culture has inspired her vision for a new multicultural project, TASTE.

TASTE is an exciting multisensory exhibition involving traditional cuisine, local people, storytelling and photography.

Agata found that the traditions of mealtime in Poland and Northern Ireland shared the same meaning. The only difference was in the type of food served.

TASTE introduces Polish cuisine to Armagh natives as they explore the tastes and history behind the dishes served up to them in their own kitchens; their enjoyment captured lovingly through photography in the privacy of their home.

The exhibition includes a total of 18 heart-warming photographs, nine of these beautifully encapsulate Armagh people consuming and learning about traditional Polish dishes, and nine works capturing the traditional food served.

Speaking about the event on social media, Agata stated, “I’m absolutely delighted I had occasion to gather my friends in one place and this event would never have happened if not for my few important people in my life that helped me through the process to achieve my dream”.

Agata is the first Polish native to have her works showcased at The Market Place Theatre.

At the launch of the exhibition on Friday November 11, over 150 guests filled the gallery to admire Agata’s magnificent captures alongside traditional polish food samples and live entertainment from Remix Mobile DJ Owen Treanor.

The exhibition will remain in place at The Market Place Theatre until Saturday January 7, 2023 and is free to view Monday – Saturday between 9.30am and 4.30pm.
