Two core Food and Cider Festival events tell history of the Armagh Apple

In a true celebration of local produce, Armagh Food and Cider Festival will culminate this Sunday with a number of Bramley Apple inspired experiences, plot to plate dining and carefully curated specials:

The 4 Vicars Hill catering team led by Gareth and Kasia Reid are preparing to serve up a delicious Weekend Lunch in the home of Jane and John Nicholson where the story of the Armagh Bramley began.

Harnessing their renowned skills, the husband and wife team will plate up and incredible plot to plate 3 course dining experience using fruits, vegetables and herbs from their very own garden.

Over lunch the conversation is likely to feature Armagh food, past and present, including the story of the Nicholson ancestor who brought the first Bramley apple to Armagh, thereby transforming the fortunes of both his family and the area.

Tickets can be booked here and include your choice of McIvors Co Armagh cider, red or white wine or Barnhill Co Armagh apple juice.

Further develop your understanding of the Bramley apple in the historical setting of Ballinteggart House and Armagh Cider Company.

The Troughton family, who have been growing apples at Ballinteggart for four generations since 1898, will take you on a ‘cidery’ tour through the orchards, the mill and the bottling hall so you will see the complete cider and apple juice making process, ‘from blossom to bottle.’

The tour includes tea/coffee, a slice of apple tart and a bottle of cider/apple juice. Tickets for the tour and more information can be found here.

Open seven days a week, Blend and Batch in Banbridge will be offering breakfast, brunch and casual evening food. To celebrate the Food and Cider Weekend they have designed a range of signature dishes including savory, desserts and cocktails.

Head Chef of Salt Kitchen in Banbridge, Gary Scott will also be laying on a selection of Food and Cider Festival specials curated to celebrate the best in local produce.
