At getactiveabc, ‘age is just a number’ as we celebrate Positive Ageing Month with a bumper programme of activities throughout October.
With a range of low to moderate intensity physical activity sessions, social events, fun classes and walking tours, getting active and staying active is top priority!
Programme highlights include the Over 50’s Club; Danceathon; Bat and Chat tennis sessions; Buff Bones strength, training and therapeutic exercises; Tai Chi / Chi Me taster sessions; Nurture in Nature walks; Walking Football; Water Resistance and more.
Keeping in better shape as we age helps to boost energy levels and mobility, ultimately helping us to maintain independence. So, whether it’s a daily walk, rambling, gym session, swimming or pilates, exercise plays a vital role in promoting positive physical, emotional and mental health and wellbeing.
Throughout the year, there are many opportunities for people aged 60 years and above to get active, including free of charge swimming at any of the getactiveabc swimming pools (Banbridge, Orchard, South Lake Leisure Centres) and the Get Out Get Active (GOGA) programme, which aims to increase the number of people getting active, building friendships, having fun and progressing in life.
Concessionary membership rates are also available, with the added bonus of no contract, no joining fee and access to over 160 activity classes.
If you’ve always been active and you still enjoy it, keep going! If you’re keen to try something new, the getactiveabc team can guide and support you along the way.
