You’re never too old to embrace a zest for life!
Staying curious, trying new things and embracing a positive mindset can bring fresh energy, purpose and vitality you may never have imagined possible in your 60s, 70s, 80s and beyond!
Throughout Positive Ageing Month (October) getactiveabc is hosting a month-long celebration of low to moderate intensity physical activity sessions, social events and fun classes for the over 50s.
Programme highlights include bat and chat, Tai Chi, the Over 50’s Club, walking netball, chair-based exercise classes, walking groups, boccia tournaments, tea dances, Nordic walking, social cycling, swimming, health checks and a health and wellbeing event – all of which play a vital role in promoting positive physical, emotional and mental health and wellbeing.
Across the borough’s nine leisure facilities, a wide range of activities is available to help older adults stay active, healthy and connected through sport, exercise and social interaction.
Adults aged 60-65 living in the ABC Borough can also enjoy swims for just £1, while residents aged 66 and over can take advantage of free swimming at Banbridge, Orchard and South Lake Leisure Centres. Concessionary membership rates are also available, with the added bonus of no contract, no joining fee and access to over 160 activity classes.
For many in the getactiveabc community, what began as a way to stay active has grown into something much more, with lasting friendships and a real sense of belonging.
If you’ve always been active and you still enjoy it, keep going! If you’re keen to try something new, the getactiveabc team can guide and support you along the way.
