Up to 130 jobs will be created with the construction of two new restaurants at Rushmere Shopping Centre.
Armagh I first revealed plans for two new restaurants early last month.
Fifty of the posts will be created during the construction phase, while 78-80 part-time and full-time jobs will be made when the restaurants open in spring 2017.
The two new restaurants would be constructed on a hardstanding area and would also lead to the loss of some existing car parking spaces, although it is felt that the parking facilities offered at present, including underground, is more than adequate to meet customer needs. The loss of spaces would be minimal.
The new restaurants would be constructed as units 44 and 45 and would be side by side. There would also be a mezzanine area.
Tenants are currently being sought.
MLA John O’ Dowd has welcomed the announcement.
He said: “The creation of new jobs is a welcome boast to the local economy during these difficult economic times.
“Many sectors have been hit hard, including the construction industry; job creation within this industry is vital, if we are to keep these invaluable skills at home. The announcement that up to 50 construction jobs will be created throughout the build is much welcomed and needed.
“The message is clear, Craigavon is a good place for people to work, live and relax. We welcome the investment into the area over the past number of years and will continue to work with statutory agencies, council and others to promote continued investment in the area.”
