£377 of stolen supermarket goods found in car stopped in Portadown

Police in Portadown assisted colleagues in C District following a theft from a supermarket.
On Wednesday evening, 9 July, police received a report of the theft of £377 of goods from a supermarket in Downpatrick.
One male was involved and was observed driving off in a red Rover car with two other males. Details of the vehicle were circulated and police in Portadown stopped the car on Mahon Road just an hour after the incident. The 42-year-old male driver was arrested for theft and a 26-year-old male passenger was arrested on an outstanding bench warrant.
Goods were found in the boot of the car and returned to the supermarket and the car was seized.
The 42 year old man was charged with theft to appear before Downpatrick Magistrates’ Court on 31 July.
