The Royal School Armagh have made it through to the final of the Danske Bank Schools’ Cup after seeing off stiff competition from The Rainey Endowed School at the Semi-Final on Tuesday February 25.
Their incredible achievement against the Magherafelt side at the Kingspan Stadium secured the school’s third Danske Bank Schools’ Cup Final in eight years.
Their contender for the highly anticipated Final is still to be determined but many are eager to see a face-off against Lisburn’s Wallace High – who they would have competed against in their last scheduled appearance had it not been cancelled due to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The match cancellation meant that both schools shared the prestigious cup in 2020.
It has been a total of 21 years since the grammar school last lifted the cup after the Orchard county side beat Campbell College 14-5 at Ravenhill so it will be all eyes on this year’s squad to bring it home when the Final gets underway this St Patrick’s Day.
In a continuation of their sporting successes, the Royal School Armagh’s girls hockey teams will also be heading into several Semi-Finals with a busy week of matches lined up.
The 1stXI, 2ndXI and 4thXI teams are all involved in their respective Ulster Cup Semi-Finals.
