The annual Killylea Tractor Run will be taking place next month in memory of a county Armagh schoolboy who passed away earlier this year.
John Joe Toner was a Primary 7 pupil of St Malachy’s Primary School in Ballymoyer.
He lost his fight for life in the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast on St Valentine’s Day, five days after unexpectedly collapsing at school.
John Joe had a heart condition and his family had received support from the Children’s Heartbeat Trust throughout his all-too-short life.
The event, to be held on Saturday, October 28, will see all proceeds go towards NI Children’s Hospice, Children’s Heartbeat Trust (in John Joe’s memory) and Air Ambulance NI.
In his last days, the Children’s Heartbeat Trust gave John Joe’s little brother a special teddy bear through which he was able to record a message for John Joe.
Now organisers are calling on all tractor owners – including vintage models – to come along and join the procession.
Once again the one and only Ritchie Remo – of Hit The Diff fame – will be lending his support.
He will be there to get the toes tapping and the party started from 12noon, providing entertainment for young and old alike to enjoy.
There will be an auction and raffle on the day with the Tractor Run due to move off at 2.30pm.
It will leave from the church hall car park, beside Killylea Primary School, and make their way down the village’s broad Main Street.
From there they will make their way to Tynan and then across to Caledon, before returning again to Killylea.
