The relic of an Italian boy beatified by the Pope has been brough to Armagh.
On Sunday, June 11, Archbishop Eamon Martin received the first-class Relic of Blessed Carlo Acutis, prior to the 11am Mass in St Patrick’s Cathedral in the city.
The Relic of the young boy has been brought to Ireland for three days by Monsignor Anthony Figueiredo, who is based in Assisi in Italy.
Carlo, who was beatified by Pope Francis in Assisi in October 2020, died in 2006 at only 15 years of age after a battle with leukemia.
His friends remember him as a young dreamer, service-oriented and full of charisma. His life may have been short but it made a huge impact.
Recently, in the process for the teenager’s beatification, his tomb became a real pilgrimage site. Blessed Carlo once said: “Always to be united with Jesus, that is my life’s programme.”
People are welcome to visit the Cathedral and venerate the special Relic until Tuesday morning at 11am.
