Armagh man denies burglary with intent to commit grievous bodily harm

Armagh Magistrates' Court

An Armagh man has pleaded not guilty to a charge of attempted burglary with intent to commit grievous bodily harm.

Kevin Patrick John Harte (54), of Callan Crescent, also denied an offence of criminal damage at Newry Crown Court on Tuesday (November 5), where he appeared for arraignment.

While the facts of the charges were not outlined during the brief hearing, the court was told that both charges are alleged to have occurred on February 21, 2024.

Court papers say Harte is accused of attempting to enter a flat to commit grievous bodily harm; and of damaging a door and electric fuse box.

The co-accused, Michael Joseph Killen (36), of Drumman Heights, Armagh, did not appear in court.

He is charged with aggravated burglary with intent to commit unlawful damage; possessing an offensive weapon in a public place; and criminal damage.

During the short hearing, Harte spoke to confirm his name and date of birth, and to plead not guilty to both charges he faced.

His Honour Judge Ramsey KC set a date for trial on January 27, 2025, and released Harte on continuing bail.

The court was informed that a no bill application would be made in respect of Killen. The case was adjourned to November 19.
