An Armagh man is planning to undertake a 900km charity cycle in Australia in memory of John McNally.
And Paul McCord – a good friend of the much-loved and sadly-missed businessman – hopes to help others through his efforts who are fighting cancer.
John McNally – the popular owner of the Stonebridge Brasserie – passed away just four weeks ago after a brave battle with cancer.
Family and friends of the popular father-of-two were devastated at the loss, aged just 50, of a man who had done so much to help others.
John twice took part in the Italian Job cycle fundraiser to raise money for cancer charities.
Now his friend Paul – himself a keen cyclist – aims to raise money for the Friends of the Cancer Centre in John’s memory.
His goal is to cycle from Adelaide to Melbourne – a distance of 900km – over a period of nine days.
He will set out on Tuesday, March 28, and has started a just giving page, having set a target of £1,000 – a goal to which he is already well on the way.
As he prepares for the big event, Paul said: “Seeing the care John was given in the Cancer Centre, and the way in which all staff treated both him and his family, I want to try and repay that in my own way by raising some funds to enable them to continue supporting others in such a caring way.
“I am paying all my own expenses on this trip so every penny donated will go to this very worthy charity.”
