Two Armagh parents who lost their baby last year have launched a fundraiser to give back to the people who helped their family through it all.
Emma Gillespie and William White were heartbroken when their baby son Joseph-Paul passed away in their arms on August 8 in The Royal Jubilee Maternity Hospital in Belfast.
They lost baby Joseph-Paul when Emma was 22 weeks and six days pregnant.
In his memory, his mum and dad have decided to launch a GoFundMe to raise vital funds for the hospital to provide essential items for parents and children in its care.
Speaking to Armagh I, Emma said: “They were outstanding. They gave us so many wee things, such as books, knitwear and blankets.”
William added: “They had stuff for the women too such as bathrobes and toothpaste and all that. The nurse told us that if nothing fitted they’d go straight to Primark on their lunch break. They couldn’t do enough.”
Continued Emma: “They were a great help because obviously when your world’s in a whirlwind, they put put you into a room and say everything’s there for you.
“Even to this day, six months later, they’re still in contact with us all the time asking us if there’s anything we need. The after-support has been amazing. They’ve helped us from the very start and they’re still helping.”
Emma and William decided they wanted to give back to help raise awareness and funds for the hospital, who are always in need of funding and supplies.
“We want people out there to realise they’re not on their own.
“We want to raise as much funds as we can to give back to them and to any other parents coming up that are going through the same thing we went through.
“Even a small amount like 50p can go a long way to get what we need.”
