An Armagh woman accused of cruelty to a child could have her case dealt with by means of alternative disposal.
The 58-year-old’s barrister said he believed this could be arranged as quickly as next week.
The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with cruelty to a person under the age of 16 at Newry Crown Court on Thursday.
Prosecution stated: “The defence have made a sensible suggestion as to a possible alternative disposal in the case”.
She added: “Police have been contacted to ascertain the view of the parents towards this disposal”.
Defence barrister Conor Coulter commented: “I believe that this case can be advanced quite quickly”, as he asked for it to be listed on October 16 for possible disposal.
The case will return to Newry Crown Court on October 16.
