Recent arson attacks on cars in Armagh is creating a fear and tension in the community, according to one councillor.

Police are investigating after yet another arson attack on a car in an Armagh housing estate.

This time, the PSNI received a report of a vehicle on fire in the Drumarg Park area at around 10.25pm on Sunday, March 30.

Officers and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue attended the scene.

A PSNI spokesperson confirmed: “The fire is being treated as deliberate ignition and enquiries are ongoing.”

And, appealing for information, the spokesperson added: “Police would appeal that anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information, contact them on 101, quoting reference number 1616 of 30/03/25 or via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/. You can also make a report online at www.psni.police.uk/report/incident, or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or at www.crimestoppers-uk.org/.”

Prior to the incident in Drumarg, two cars were set alight in the Cavanacaw Manor area of the city on Sunday, March 16.

A car in Darkley was set alight in November.

Police have not confirmed whether any of these incidents are linked.

Sinn Féin Councillor John Óg O Kane said the recent spate of attacks is creating an unwanted tension in the area.

“These attacks in the city carried out by these criminals , have created fear and tension within our communities,” he said.

“Those engaged in these criminal acts have nothing to offer Armagh city or the community and do not reflect the true nature of Armagh city.

“Anyone with information relating to these incidents should contact the PSNI.”
