A car filled with 26 drums of kerosene bought in Armagh made a “non-essential” journey all the way from Co. Meath.
Gardai stopped the car in the Wilkinstown area of the Royal county earlier on Tuesday.
The kerosene – all 26 drums of it – were purchased in Armagh a few hours prior to Gardai pulling the car over.
It total, it would have been approximately a 60-mile round trip.
“This was not an essential journey as the driver and passenger live locally,” a Gardai spokesperson said.
“Both the Kerosene and the vehicle were seized.
“Gardai will prepare an investigation file following this COVID breach which will be sent for direction.
“Unless your journey is essential please follow the government advice and stay at home.”
