Police will be stepping up patrols in a highly residential area of Armagh city over the summer following increased anti-social behaviour.
The announcement comes following an act of criminal damage at a private property on the Rock Road on Friday evening (June 26).
A window to the property was smashed and allegations were also made of trespassing on properties.
Sinn Féin Cllr, Sarah Duffy explained: “On Friday night at approximately 11pm, a group of youths were involved in antisocial behaviour in the Spinners Avenue area of the Rock Road – including trespassing and causing criminal damage to properties.
“I’ve spoken with the PSNI to report the incident and they will be carrying out extra patrols over the summer.
“With the school holidays now here, I’d encourage parents to know of their children’s whereabouts and to speak to them about respecting their community and the impact this behaviour has on others.”
Police in Armagh confirmed they are aware of resident concern around ongoing antisocial behaviour in the Spinners Avenue area of Armagh.
Neighbourhood Officers will endeavour to increase patrols in the area and will continue to engage with the community. Public safety is of paramount importance to us.
Neighbourhood Policing Team officers regularly meet with residents to discuss their concerns, and continue to liaise with our statutory partners as part of our ongoing work to keep the area safe.
Anyone engaging in antisocial or criminal behaviour should be aware that it will be dealt with robustly.
All reports that are made to police are investigated and, where offences have been committed, we will not hesitate to bring the perpetrators before the courts.
Anyone who sees any ongoing antisocial behaviour should report it to police as it happens by calling 101, or 999 in an emergency. Reporting crimes or incidents that impact on your quality of life helps police to focus patrols where they’re needed and allows positive action to take place.
