It really was a case of braving the shave for two local Armagh men as every spec of hair on their head – and face – was expertly removed.
The West Armagh Consortium have thanked everyone who got involved and supported its Cue Ball Head Shave Challenge which was completed on St. Patricks Day.
Their aim is to raise money for Opening Oisín’s Opportunities, which is a local pathway for the charity Just4Children.
Fiona Kelly, Chairperson for the West Armagh Consortium, said: “We are delighted to confirm that an amazing £4,256.25 was raised by the event. This money has gone to the charity to help improve the lives of children like Oisin, who live with Cerebral Palsy.
“Congratulations to all involved in particular our programme manager, Stephen Fields who braved the shave.
“Stephen, as many will know, is very much involved in the St. Patricks Day Community Parade and the culmination of the fund-raising event was timed to coincide with the parade.
“The head and beard shave, in his case, took place in our function hall following the parade.
“The deed was very professionally carried out by Mark McSherry (The Barber from Lower English Street), who it has to be said done a very thorough job.
“It would be remiss of us not to acknowledge Mr. Kevin Murray who also took up our Cue Ball Head Shave Challenge.
“Kevin also braved the shave on the day and The Barber duly done the honours.
“Many thanks to Kevin as well you certainly helped make the event an enjoyable one. Both cue balls are getting used to their new looks.
