A Darkley man accused of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence is to face Crown Court proceedings.
Richard Kenneth Dickson, 39, of Tullynawood Road, appeared before Armagh Magistrates’ Court, sitting at Newry Courthouse on Tuesday, for the purposes of a preliminary enquiry (PE), the legal process during which a case is referred to the higher court.
He is charged that he had in his possession a firearm with intent to cause another person to believe that unlawful violence would be used against them or another person.
While the facts of the case were not outlined, the court heard the incident is alleged to have occurred on July 5 this year.
Appearing in court, Dickson spoke to confirm his name and date of birth.
The prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.
Defence counsel made no contrary submissions.
District Judge Anne Marshall, satisfied there was a prima facie case to answer, released the defendant on his own bail of £500 and adjourned the case for the accused to appear at Newry Crown Court for arraignment on November 5.
