A review into the Drumadd parking fiasco in Armagh is currently underway, TransportNI has confirmed.
However, residents are still banned from leaving their cars in the prohibited area, which seen a number of them slapped with £90 parking charges.
The spokesperson confirmed the departmental review to Armagh I, but stressed that restrictions remain in place, despite recent confusion on the matter.
They have also advised that any resident that continues to park in the prohibited area face further fines.
Last month, Armagh I reported that disabled resident Stephen Blayney was hit with a penalty notice for parking outside the home he has lived in for the last 25 years.
Mr Blayney had stationed his car outside his home on Drumadd Terrace every day for 25 years, without so much as an eyebrow being raised.
He was left in utter disbelief when he discovered the ticket glaring back at him as he approached his vehicle, which was situated in an unmarked island at the junction with Victoria Street.
Five other long-term residents were also handed the hefty parking fines, some having parked along Drumadd Terrace.
There are no signs in the area to warn motorists of any such restrictions.
A Department for Infrastructure told Armagh I: “As indicated previously TransportNI and the PSNI are reviewing parking arrangements at this location to try and agree a suitable long term resolution that will provide the best balance between road safety, local parking and traffic progression.
“When this is complete local residents will be informed of the outcome.
“In the interim drivers should adhere to the parking restrictions in the area.
“The parking tickets that were issued recently in this area will be considered as part of the overall review of parking arrangements.”
