Exclusive private members club plans boutique wedding reception venue at Armagh base

Armagh County Club has proposals lodged ahead of 150th anniversary nexr year

An exclusive private members club has set its sights on a redevelopment at its Armagh city HQ – with plans to facilitate use as a boutique wedding reception venue.

It would be incorporated within the overall proposals for the Armagh County Club’s premises.

The club will next year mark its 150th anniversary and membership is by invitation only.

It is located at 33 Upper English Street, next door to The Butcher, where it has been based since 1869.

And now the club is seeking planning approval for a series of changes to provide residential accommodation and enhanced club facilities.

It hopes to be given permission for a change of use to create two apartments at ground floor level.

Proposals also include the refurbishment and upgrading of the second floor to create a self-contained apartment.

The club also seeks approval for the refurbishment of its existing function rooms and dining suite.

This is to facilitate its continued use by the Armagh County Club and proposed seminars and boutique wedding reception venue.

The proposals have been submitted to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council for consideration.

They are due to be publicly advertised next week.
