A new drive-thru café on the edge of Armagh city will be taken on by the owners of a family-run gym – based just metres away.
Maxx Life Gym, which recently moved into their own state-of-the-art premises in the Carrickhill Industrial Park on the Ballycrummy Road, will be taken on the lease for the new drive-thru, also based within the complex.
Armagh I first revealed plans for the drive-thru in August and while the developer remained tight-lipped, Maxx Life Gym director, Anto Maxx, said it had been in the works for some time.
Speaking to Armagh I, Anto said it is hoped that work on the building will be completed for Christmas with trading to begin early in the New Year.
Said Anto: “We had planned on opening a juice bar inside the gym but then the landlord informed us he was going to build a drive-thru and offered it to us instead of opening our juice bar. It just made sense. I think it’s going to be great.
“The area is very busy; the gym is very busy, there’s a lot of traffic around and there’s easy access from both sides of town. I’m really excited for it.”
The gym’s official announcement on social media stated that the drive-thru, which will also have a sit-in café, will be serving a full range of coffees and hot drinks, as well as healthy fruit smoothies, healthy and some not so healthy treats, and ice-cream.
They added: “Work is progressing quite fast, with the expected opening date to be very early 2024.
“Unlike the gym, we’re delving into the unknown here, but we feel the Drive-Thru Café will be a great addition for our gym members, and the local people of Armagh.
“We’re super excited for the new challenges that lie ahead, and for the continued growth of Maxx Life. And we have fantastic new plans for the area in the gym which was to be the Juice Bar. We will be announcing what’s happening there in due course, once we get work underway on it, again in early 2024. So here’s to the next part of our adventures.”
