A 96-year-old man tragically passed away while he was out driving his tractor in Co Armagh on Tuesday afternoon.
Farmer Leo Murphy died close to his home at Moore Island Road in the Grange, on the outskirts of Armagh city.
A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said: “NIAS received a 999 call at 12:53 on Tuesday, July 17 following reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a tractor on Moore Island Road, Armagh.”
It is understood Mr Murphy passed away from natural causes.
Mr Murphy’s heartbroken daughter, Mary Gibney, speaking to Q Radio News, said: “He just went to keep an eye on the cattle and that was it. It’s just so sad and we’re going to miss him so much.
“I’m just heartbroken. My daddy died just where he loved being best, in the arches or the field or among the cattle, and that’s just where he was when it all happened.”
He was the beloved husband of the late Lily and loving father to John, Joe, Seamus, Michael, Gerard, Francy, Philip, Mary (Gibney), Leo, Ann and the late Oliver, Colm and Theresa.
Mr Murphy will repose at his late home on Moore Island Road until removal on Thursday evening at 6.15pm to arrive at the Church of St Colmcille, Knockaconey for 7pm.
Funeral Mass on Friday at 11am with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
