A former Armagh police photographer who sexually abused two women will have to wait until next month to learn his fate.
The 62-year-old had been due to be sentenced but because a probation officer was on long term sick a pre-sentence report had not been completed.
William McConnell, of Church Square in Strabane, appeared for sentencing on two counts of indecent assault on a female and two counts of possession an indecent photograph at Newry Crown Court on Monday.
The offences related to two females with the assaults taking place between September 1, 2000 and December 31, 2006.
Prosecuting barrister Fiona O’Kane stated: “We are applying for an adjournment. The probation officer who was to prepare the report was on long term sick over the summer.
“Mr McConnell attended his first meeting with probation but was not given a second date. The case should be adjourned for the report to be completed.”
Judge Gordon Kerr QC adjourned the case until October 1.
McConnell was released to appear on that date for sentencing.
