The fourth annual golf day in memory of popular Armagh man, Harry ‘The Legend’ McGeough is set to be held this August.
Harry (75), died on September 15, 2020, two days after contracting Covid-19, having battled cancer for seven years prior to his passing.
In recognition of the care he received at Craigavon Area Hospital, and in memory of his life, Harry’s wife Brenda set up ‘Harry’s Day’, which has become an annual event.
Last year’s event was a roaring success, raising £5,700 for Marie Curie.

This year’s event will be held at the County Armagh Golf Club on Friday, August 16, and promises to be another great day of golf.
All donations, sponsorships, raffle monies and other money raised will be donated straight to Cancer Research UK.
Speaking to Armagh I, Brenda said: “Over the last three years we’ve raised nearly £20,000, which is unreal and money that all the charities are in desperate need of. Last year we had over 80 golfers and another great day is planned this year!”
Harry, who was affectionately referred to as ‘The Legend’, was a well-known Armagh man who was involved in a number of local sporting clubs and who also sang at weddings and bars.
Last year’s event was supported by 42 local business sponsors including the main sponsor for the event – SB Fibre Comms.
Speaking after the event, Brenda said: “The day went very well. The weather was perfect and everyone enjoyed themselves.
“We’re looking forward to Harry’s Day 2024! As I’ve always said: next year… bigger and better!”
Anyone interested in playing in the event, sponsoring a hole, or donating in any way to the cause is asked to contact Brenda at 075 2563 9263 or Kevin at 075 6186 6935.
