Civic buildings will be lit on four occasions over the next six weeks to raise awareness of a number of local charities and initiatives.
Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council agreed to the move at its monthly meeting on Tuesday night.
The council regularly accepts requests to light buildings to help raise awareness within the local communities of various conditions and good causes.
It has now agreed to four more requests which will see buildings lit in a range of colours during September and October.
These will begin thid Saturday, September 1 when, over a four-day period, the colour gold will be used to highlight Childhood Cancer.
As has been the practice previously, the buildings which will be illuminated will be the Palace and Gaol in Armagh, as well as Banbridge Town Hall and Craigavon Civic and Conference Building.
Organ Donation Week runs this year from Monday, September 3 until Sunday, September 9.
And, to highlight this, the four buildings will be lit in pink.
Then, two days, both with great meaning to the many affected, will be marked a month apart.
Monday, September 10, is World Suicide Prevention Day. Buildings will light in orange/yellow for the occasion.
This will be followed on Wednesday, October 10, when World Mental Health Day is observed. For this, it will be purple used to highlight the occasion.
In addition to lighting up buildings to coincide with these occasions, officers have also been given the go-ahead to promote awareness of all four through the ABC Council’s social media platforms.
Councillors have been told that using lights in this way on buildings “has proved to be a very successful tool to increase public awareness”.
