Armagh’s Glenside flats could be restored by the summer, if all goes according to plan.

And the Northern Ireland Housing Executive had previously defended its decision to restore the properties.
The properties suffered structural and roof damage during an early morning blaze.
In October, the Housing Executive said the development, consisting of 12 units, was necessary.”
It wrote to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council to point out: “These flats were in demand and the expenditure to repair them and leave them at a modern standard was deemed a viable spend.”
And now NIHE has come back to council again by submitting a formal planning application to restore the properties.
Six of the 12 flats in the block – all at first floor level – were damaged, as was the roof.
The Executive is seeking permission to reinstate all properties and carry out repairs to restore them to a like condition prior to last summer’s fire.
It is expected that a decision will be taken in the spring time, allowing contractors on site to see the work through.
If all goes to plan and in the Executive’s favour, the work could be completed before the end of the summer.
