The principal, pupils, parents and staff of St Patrick’s Grammar School had reason to celebrate last week with the publication of GCSE results for the Armagh school.
Among the top achievers in St Patrick’s were an outstanding group of young men, Cormac McCreesh, Noel George, Tiernan Donnelly and Ewan Kearney,each achieving an impressive ten A*/A grades. A further five students achieved nine A*/A grades including Ciaran Callaghan, Ronan McCrory, Eoin Campbell, Dawid Kuwik and Adone Gijo. Other students achieved seven or eight A*/A grades, among them Louay Dalal, Oisin Gribben and Matthew Donnelly-Hughes.
Of special note are the 30 Year 11 students who achieved A*-C grades in their one-year Fast Track GCSE Mathematics, sixteen of whom achieved an A*/A grade while still in Year 11. The St. Patrick’s community is also proud of the Year 11 students who completed an early GCSE in their community language programme, achieving top grades in Arabic, Russian and Polish.
“It was heartwarming to welcome Year 11 and 12 students and their parents and families into school to collect their GCSE results,” said Mr Clarke, “We are delighted at the achievements of our GCSE and Level 2 students. We are looking forward to working with thee students into Post 16 and wish any leavers well for their future. These results are testament to the superb efforts of our students, our families, and our staff; a real community effort.”
He continued, “I wish to congratulate all our St. Patrick’s students who showed diligence and tenacity throughout Key Stage 4. I am delighted that so many of our GCSE students have opted to return to Post 16 studies at St Patrick’s in September. I am confident that with sustained commitment and application to their studies, our incoming Year 13 cohort can look forward to continued excellence in their AS and A2 examination results.”

A delighted Head of Maths, Mr Jonathan Denvir, celebrates with some of the Year 11 students who achieved an A* /A grade in GCSE Maths a full year early! Thirty students in Yr 11 completed their early Maths GCSE, with sixteen of these students achieving an A grade or above. These thirty students will now complete Further Maths GCSE in one year.
