‘Long list’ of ineffective road signs reported due to overgrown shrubbery

A long list of ineffective roads signs have been reported to Transport NI because of overgrown shrubbery.

SDLP representative Seamus Livingstone has reported what he describes as a long list of defective signs in the Cusher area, some of which are missing altogether.

“Following a number of complaints from road users I have reported a long list of road signs to Transport NI which require immediate maintenance or repair,” explained Mr Livingstone.

“Many signs are blocked by overgrown trees, hedges and shrubbery and as such are completely ineffective. Some are missing and haven’t been replaced for a very long time.

“I understand budgets are tight and focus is very often on repairing potholes but Transport NI should not allow their maintenance programme to be held back.

“Simple maintenance, repair and replacement of road signage is essential to ensure all road users are safe.”

He added: “If any of the road signs in your area need maintenance please get in touch and I’ll forward all to Transport NI for action.”
