Major extension plans proposed for Armagh City Hotel

New 'Conservatory Bistro' to be created in terrace area

A major extension could be on the cards at Armagh City Hotel.

The development – if given the go-ahead – will be the biggest project carried out at the Friary Road property since it opened more than 20 years ago.

The works will centre around enhancing the food and drink options available to visitors and guests.

It is understood the plans will cost in the region of £200,000 to complete.

The City Hotel is home to both the Friary Restaurant and Callan Bar.

It is now hoped to increase the drinking and dining experience by extending the hotel in size by 160 square metres!

This would be done by creating a single storey extension to the ground floor bar.

In doing this, the idea is to provide a new ‘Conservatory Bistro’ to what is already on offer.

This would be located on the terrace area.

Plans for the work – which have been drawn up by DA Architects in Armagh – have now been submitted to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council for consideration.

They are due to be publicly advertised this week and a decision expected in the coming months.
