An Armagh man accused of causing grievous bodily injury by careless driving is to face Crown Court proceedings later this year.
The 41-year-old appeared at the city’s Magistrates’ Court, sitting at Newry, for the purposes of a preliminary enquiry (PE), the legal process during which a case is referred to the higher court.
Glenn John Carrol, of Navan Cottages, is charged with a single count of causing grievous bodily injury by careless driving.
As the charge was read, it was heard that the defendant is alleged to committed the offence on May 30, 2018, on the Portadown Road in Armagh.
Appearing via videolink from his solicitor’s office, Carrol made no objection to the holding of a preliminary enquiry.
Prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.
Defence solicitor John McAtamney made no contrary submissions.
Deputy District Judge Philip Mateer said that he was satisfied there was a prima facie case to answer.
The defendant was released on his continuing bail to appear before Newry Crown Court on June 6 for arraignment.
