A man who was arrested in Armagh has been extradited to Lithuania today (Friday) to stand trial for drug trafficking.
The 43-year-old is wanted for trafficking as a member of an organised crime gang, with the offences alleged to have occurred in November 2019.
The operation was conducted by officers from the PSNI’s International Policing Unit working in partnership with Lithuanian authorities.
He was arrested in the Armagh area on November 23, 2022 and the extradition proceedings have now completed.
Detective Inspector Lennon from the Police Service’s International Policing Unit said: “We continue to work with our international partners to identify and arrest those wanted in other jurisdictions.
“In this case, we worked closely with authorities in Lithuania and the National Crime Agency to arrest this subject.”
Detective Inspector Lennon added: “If fugitives travel to Northern Ireland to avoid the consequences of their previous crimes it is only a matter of time before they are arrested and brought before the extradition courts.
“Our message is clear that we will relentlessly pursue those that are trying to delay or deny justice to victims of crime.”
