Man charged with ‘criminal damage’ after attack on Santander bank window

Police investigating a report of criminal damage to a property in the Upper English Street area of Armagh, have charged a man to court.

Arnoldas Druzilauska, 33, with an address of Dawson Street in Armagh has been charged with criminal damage following reports of damage caused to a window belonging to Santander bank on Upper English Street.

The property was attacked at around 6:00am on Wednesday April 23. Officers attended the scene and the suspect was subsequently arrested.

He appeared before Banbridge Magistrates’ Court sitting in Newry today, Thursday, April 24.

He is also charged with two counts of breaching a suspended sentence.

On March 25, at Armagh Magistrates’ Court, he was convicted of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and was sentenced to five months in prison, suspended for two years.

He was also convicted – on the same date – of improper use of public electronic communications network and was sentenced to five months, suspended for two years.

As is usual procedure, the current charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

As a result of the damage the bank was closed for the day, with a note in the window citing “unforeseen circumstances”.

Santander bank announced the closure of its branches in Armagh, Portadown and Dungannon as part of plans to “update its branch network from June 2025 to better serve the changing needs of its customers”.

The Armagh branch will close its doors for the final time at 3pm on July 1, 2025.
