A man who is accused of historic sexual offences against a single female has heard that he will face Crown Court proceedings.
The defendant, who is in his 70s and cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with 15 counts of indecent assault on a female, five counts of gross indecency towards a child, making an indecent photo of a child and cruelty toa person under 16.
As the charges were read, it was heard that he was accused of indecently assaulting a single female 15 times between January 1, 1986 and January 1, 1997.
During this same period, he is also alleged to have committed an act of gross indecency against the same alleged injured party.
The defendant is accused of making an indecent photograph of this female between January 1, 1986 and January 1, 1991.
Standing in the dock at Armagh Magistrates’ Court, he made no objection to the holding of a preliminary enquiry.
Prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.
Defence counsel made no contrary submissions.
Deputy District Judge Austin Kennedy stated he was satisfied this was the case.
The defendant was released on his own bail of £500 to appear at Newry Crown Court on April 30 for arraignment.
