A man who was pulled from a flat fire in Armagh is in a critical condition in hospital tonight (Friday).
The man was rescued from the blaze in Culdee Street area of the city around 4.15pm today.
The fire, which happened on the ground floor, began a short time before neighbours raised the alarm.
A Southern Trust spokesperson confirmed to Armagh I that the man remains in a critical but stable condition tonight.
He was earlier rushed to Craigavon Area Hospital and has since been transferred to Belfast Royal Victoria Hospital.
A Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) Spokesperson said: “Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service received a call to a fire in a flat in Culdee Street, Armagh, at 4.30pm.
“Three fire appliances from Armagh and Portadown Fire Stations attended the incident.
“On arrival fire crews discovered a fire in the living room. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire and rescued a single occupant.
“The occupant was treated at the scene by fire and rescue personnel before being taken to hospital by Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.
“A fire investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing by NIFRS and PSNI officers”.
