Milford mum says car was targeted in ‘case of mistaken identity’

The owner of a car burnt out in Milford last week hopes to clear-up accusations of wrongdoing after she said people put “two and two together and made five”.

The woman – who wished to remain anonymous to avoid further incidents – had her white BMW destroyed in an arson attack in the early hours of Friday, July 10.

The woman said she was incorrectly targeted online by people she “doesn’t even know” and that her car was “burnt out” as a result.

As a young woman caring for her autistic son, she vehemently claims it was a case of mistaken identity.

She lives a “quiet life” and says she has no involvement with anything that would lead to her property being attacked.

After losing her only mode of transport she has now become wholly reliant on her mum for getting to and from shops and work.

Her son, she says, is now terrified and has anxiety and increased difficulty leaving the home. To alleviate her son’s anxiety and her own, she is now also thinking of installing CCTV at her home.

Police say enquiries are ongoing, and anyone with any information that can assist with this investigation is asked to contact police using their witness appeal form at https://reporting.psni.police.uk/appeals quoting 140 of 10/07/26 or call us on 101.
