A man has tonight been charged with the attempted abduction of a child from an Armagh primary school.
The 42-year-old is due to appear before Banbridge Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Thursday) morning.
A woman also arrested at the same time has been “released unconditionally”, a PSNI spokesperson told Armagh I tonight.
The two had been arrested after the young child was taken from the Armstrong Primary School on College Hill in the city.
A frantic search ensued before the boy was finally located in Belfast a number of hours later.
Armagh I contacted police following the incident.
A spokesman earlier confirmed two arrests on “suspicion of attempted child abduction following an incident in Armagh on Tuesday, November 10”.
The man and woman were taken into police custody and were helping police with their enquiries.
“The arrests followed the report of a young child being taken from school premises in Armagh city on Tuesday morning,” the PSNI spokesperson told Armagh I.
“An investigation was immediately put into place by police and enquiries led to Belfast where the man and woman were arrested and the child recovered.”
The 35-year-old female has been released now unconditionally and the man will appear in court in the morning.
