Business owners and public alike are being urged to be on their guard amid reports of a batch of fake bank notes being passed in Armagh.
The PSNI says it has received reports of fake £20 and £50 notes in circulation in the wider Armagh area.
And they have been sprayed with hairspray, a trick often used by fraudsters to make them harded to detect.
A PSNI spokesperson urged shop owners: “All serial numbers appear to match.
“Please tell staff to take their time and not be afraid to refuse what normally is a small purchase.”
A vehicle believed connected with the passing of the note has a partial registration of 11 MO followed by four digits.
A second vehicle is HM02 with three unknown digits.
Both are described as white van style vehicles.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the PSNI on the non-emergency number 101.
