Three local charities have been given a welcome boost thanks to the festive fundraising efforts of Armagh’s own Willie Nugent.
For the kind-hearted Armachian’s pre-Christmas publication of his latest book has delivered a timely post-season gift.
A total of £3,000 was raised through the sale of ‘Maisie Helps Santa Move to Armagh’.
And now £1,000 apiece is going to the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children, Friends of the Cancer Centre Belfast City Hospital and Guide Dogs for the Blind.
The man himself Willie personally handed over the proceeds of the book, the latest in a series of seasonal fun books for children which have helped capture the imagination.
An ever humble Willie is quick to thank all who helped in any way, including the shops who sold the book, Raffles, Curran’s Spar Shop, Macari’s Newsagents, Trimprint, Dessie’s, Gazette Shop, Pet World, TG Hawthorne, Frances Hairdressers, Armagh Blooms and Navan Centre.
Added Willie: “A special word of thanks must go to Armagh I, Ulster Gazette newspaper, illustrator Simon Goodyear, Trimprints for doing an excellent printing job, my sponsor Nugent and Gibney Ltd, and not forgetting the star of the book, Maisie.
“Hopefully we’ll do it all again next Christmas!”
