A man who put his fist through his ex-partner’s kitchen door after a row has been made subject to a restraining order.
The district judge told 34-year-old, who appeared in court with no record: “You are fortunate that this matter has ended in the way it has.”
Ryan Bemrose, of Bentley Road in Ipswich , England, pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour and criminal damage at Armagh Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
It was heard that on February 10, police received a 999 call from the complainant from her address in Tandragee.
She claimed she had been out with her new partner and after returning had walked the babysitter home.
In the vicinity of Wayside in Tandragee, she spotted her ex-partner, the defendant. He followed her home and approached her door so she quickly locked it.
At 4.45am, police arrested Bemrose who claimed he had been at a neighbour’s house.
The injured party further claimed that the defendant, between December 1 and December 30, 2018, had put his fist through a kitchen door at her property after an argument.
Prosecution stated that the witness was relieved that she did not have to give evidence and at the knowledge that Bemrose now resided outside the jurisdiction.
Defence barrister Kevin O’Hare said: “This is a 34-year-old man with no previous record. He spent four days in custody for these offences which was a chastening experience.
“He works full time in Ipswich as a tyre fitter. He sends money to support his two children and I respectfully submit that this was out of character.”
District Judge Paul Copeland stated: “You are fortunate that this matter has ended in the way it has”.
Bemrose was handed a conditional discharge for two years along with a two-year restraining order in reference to the complainant.
