Specialist fire crews tasked to rescue flock of sheep stranded by rising flood water

Special animal rescue teams have been tasked to an incident in Tynan Abbey this afternoon (Thursday).

Approximately 30 sheep are trapped in a field in the area due to rising flood water.

Emergency crews were called around lunchtime to help the stricken flock.

A spokesperson for NI Fire and Rescue Service told Armagh I: “One appliance from Armagh Fire Station, the Large Animal Rescue Team from Newcastle Fire Station and a Specialist Rescue Team from Central Fire Station are in attendance.

“Firefighters are at the scene of approximately 30 sheep that are trapped in a field surrounded by water. The incident is on-going.”
