Spice Lounge Armagh: New fine dining Indian restaurant to open its doors in city

Spice Lounge Armagh

Armagh is in for a treat as a unique taste of India, with a modern twist, is set to hit the city with a new restaurant set to swing open its doors next week.

Spice Lounge, which is due to open on Lower english Street on Tuesday evening, is a fine dining and seafood grill, which owner Alamgir Hussain says will “bring something different” when it comes to well-known Indian cuisine.

The restaurant is a joint enterprise between Alamgir and his head chef, who has 20-plus years experience of working within Northern Ireland’s premium Indian eateries.

The Spice Lounge will be located in the former 7 Hills Restaurant and the food will be an East meets West fusion of authentic Indian cuisine and spices combined with grilled seafood.

Speaking to Armagh I ahead of the launch night, Alamgir said: “I am from this city and I think this corner of the Shambles has got so much potential; it’s such a great location and I’m delighted to be able to breathe some new life into it.

“It’s a busy corner but the restaurant will add a vibrancy to the area. The building has lay empty for a while, which is a shame, but thankfully we have been able to give it a new look people will hopefully love.

“When I first looked inside I fell in love with the building; I wanted to create atmosphere and I think we have done that.”

Alamgir says his full-service restaurant will be a must-visit for those who want to experience an exceptional gastronomic voyage in the ultimate air-conditioned venue.

“Our authentic cuisine unites people, connecting history and traditions, in the warm and friendly atmosphere,” he said.

It will be Indian fine dining with a focus on healthier food choices.

And the team of highly trained and experienced cooks are experts in the production, preparation and presentation of their Indian dishes. They want to cater for all, with vegetarian, vegan and food allergies all taken into consideration on their menu.

Alagmir says booking will be advisable for weekends and that the premises holds a ‘Bring Your Own Alcohol’ licence.
